Candidates vie for Liberal nomination
TORONTO - Three candidates are making their pitch to represent the Liberals in an upcoming downtown Toronto byelection.
Todd Ross, Diana Burke and Chrystia Freeland are speaking to Liberal members at a nomination meeting today before they cast their ballots.
Ross, a community organizer, and Burke, a former banker, are emphasizing their strong local ties.
Freeland, a well-known former journalist and author, is new to the riding, but is the most high-profile candidate.
The date of the byelection, which was triggered by former interim Liberal leader Bob Rae's resignation, hasn't been called yet.
