CALGARY - A Calgary woman accused of tampering with a juror during the sexual assault trial for her psychiatrist husband has been charged with obstruction of justice.
Erica Levin (leh-VEEN'), who is 69, was taken into custody Thursday and is to appear in provincial court Feb. 14.
Police say they were contacted Jan. 14 by Alberta Justice after a juror in the Dr. Aubrey Levin trial alleged she had been approached by a relative of the accused and offered cash in return for a not guilty verdict.
The juror was removed and police began investigating.
The 74-year-old psychiatrist was convicted last month of sexually assaulting a number of his court-appointed patients and sentenced to five years in prison.
Chris Archer, the psychiatrist's defence lawyer, has said that Erica Levin is gravely ill.
