Toronto Mayor Rob Ford back in court today

TORONTO - Toronto's Mayor Rob Ford is back in court today to appeal a ruling that ordered him out of office.

An Ontario Superior Court Justice ruled in November that Ford violated conflict of interest laws by voting at Toronto city council on a matter in which he had a financial interest.

The vote was on whether the mayor should repay $3,150 he had solicited from lobbyists for his private football foundation using official city letterhead.

Ford's lawyer, Alan Lenczner, says the mayor shouldn't be found guilty because it was a genuine error in judgment.

If Ford loses his appeal, he says he'll run in a byelection if council chooses to call one.
