In the very wee hours of this morning, Colette Michel-Fall was the first person in the Ontario Sault to purchase an off-the-shelf copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

"I stopped here after my shift at the hospital to pick up some products," Michel-Fall told SooToday.com.

"I didn't realize the book was coming out tonight until the staff told me," she said. "I knew I had to pick it up. My [15-year-old] daughter's a big fan."

Michel-Falls was joined by 100 other people at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Cambrian Mall, each of them looking to purchase the seventh and concluding book of the Harry Potter series.

The store had stayed open past midnight to accommodate them.

As customers lined up in advance, the discussion turned to such questions as whether Harry will die and whether Snape is good or evil.

"I think Harry's going to die," said Susan Maville, a grandmother-of-two who was looking forward to reading the last book.

"But I'm hoping they will all come back from the dead," Maville said.

Sixteen-year-old Talia Rochon disagreed.

"I don't think Harry will die because it's too obvious," said Rochon.

"J.K. Rowling is such a good writer and this is something too predictable; so I don't think she will stoop to that level," she said.

Rochon also thinks Snape is evil, "but I think he's gonna die for Harry Potter."

"I'm hoping he's good," said Maville.

Ultimately, these are questions that will only be answered by reading the book.

"I've been waiting seven years for this," said Rochon.
