15 people charged in drug bust with biker connection

Alexander McKenna, a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, is one of 15 people charged in connection with a major drug bust announced by police this afternoon in Sault Ste. Marie.

61 drug-related offences were announced today.

Police seized about $32,000 in cash, 20 long guns and quantities of drugs including cannabis resin, hash oil, cocaine, marijuana, percocet and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

The seizures followed a six-month undercover investigation by about nine officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The investigation involved electronic interception and other forms of surveillance, including an undercover operative under contract to police.

(SAULT STE MARIE ON): This morning and last evening, as a result of executing search warrants and making arrests in Sault Ste. Marie, officers have charged fifteen (15) individuals with trafficking in controlled drugs and substances.

The charges stem from a six-month undercover investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Drug Section, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Biker Enforcement Unit.

Several purchases of controlled drugs and substances were made from mid-level to high-level drug traffickers operating with the City of Sault Ste. Marie including a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club.

The extensive investigation concluded today with the execution of five Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants at residences in the City of Sault Ste. Marie and a sixth at an establishment known as Razooz Pizzeria and Tavern.

Fifteen individuals have been charged with 61 drug-related offences.

Drugs seized include approximately 20.5 pounds of cannabis resin, over half a pound of cocaine, one pound of marijuana.

Two vehicles have also been seized during this operation.

The street value of the drugs seized is in excess of $220,000.
