David Ramsay, Ontario's Minister of Natural Resources, was on hand today to saw the first log at the new Scragg saw line at Boniferro Mill Works.

Well, sort of.

Ramsay (shown with Sault MPP David Orazietti and Didier Beune from MEM Le Minaret, the France-based manufacturer of the new saw), pushed a button today to officially start the line.

What we're not supposed to tell you is that with so many politicians around the place this morning, it was thought prudent to quietly hide all the sharp thingies.

So the saw blade was removed and safely stowed upstairs.

Ramsay obligingly pretended to run the symbolic log back and forth through the machine, which like many of the politicians present, wasn't performing a lick of useful work.

We did, however, also catch some other images of people who actually do work at Boniferro, and of the new million-dollar MEM Tele-Twin Scragg saw, which will create six new jobs and is housed in a newly renovated 4,000 square-foot addition next door to Boniferro's hardwood sawmill.
