Targeted Initiative for Older Workers program offers free training opportunity

Employment Solutions is currently delivering the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) program, a special initiative funded by Employment Ontario and Service Canada, designed to help unemployed older workers increase their ability to find and keep a job in the local economy.

The TIOW program is currently offering an opportunity for interested applicants to have one of a limited number of seats in the Essential Technologies Certificate program offered at Sault College.

This hands-on training program is designed to increase the participant’s knowledge of computer hardware, software, internet usage, computerized sales, cash management and Point of Sale (POS) software, as well as effective customer service skills in the technical world.

Older workers will find this program to be a great opportunity to upgrade their skills and help increase their ability in obtaining employment in the current economy.

As a major benefit, the TIOW program will cover the tuition and book costs for this training.

To qualify for the TIOW program and this exciting free training opportunity, individuals must be between 50 and 64 years old, unemployed (retired, laid off) with limited computer skills, and be looking for part time or full time work.

Interested applicants can Contact Debi Mackay at Employment Solutions, 705-945-0705 ext. 4273.

Employment Solutions’ programs and services are funded by Employment Ontario.
