Helicopter crash update. Names of deceased released

All three persons on-board the Bell 206 Long Range helicopter operated by Sunrise Helicopters Inc. of North Bay are confirmed deceased.

The pilot, 39 year old Greg Sawyer of North Bay Ontario, 47 year old Dan Simis of Val Rita Ontario and 37 year old Chad McQuade of Kapuskasing, both worked for Tembec Inc.

Helicopter crashes south of Kapuskasing

KAPUSKASING - On Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at approximately 11:45 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) James Bay Detachments received a report of a helicopter crash from the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC).

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and James Bay Detachment responded to this remote location near Clear Lake, approximately 30 kilometres south of Kapuskasing, along with emergency services personnel.

The OPP will remain on scene and will be assisting the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
