Sault College, in conjunction with the United Way, conducted the second annual Trades day of Caring on Saturday.

Trades Day of Caring saw students from Sault College’s Civil Engineering Technician, Home Inspection and Construction Carpentry Techniques programs aid seniors around Sault Ste. Marie with minor repairs and maintenance around the house.

Among the repairs and maintenance duties performed by the roughly 45 students who participated included window caulking, weather stripping and sealing windows for the winter.

The students also raked yards in preparation for the winter months.

The 45 students were split up into groups and went to 21 homes, up from nine last year, to help out.

With sunny skies and reasonable temperatures, the students began around 7:30 a.m. and wrapped up around 1:30.
