Case's Music at 173 Spring Street got some new owners today.

The husband-and-wife team of Jay Case and Carrie Suriano took over the long-standing Sault business and plan on doing extensive renovations before celebrating a grand re-opening this fall.

"We’re very excited to carry on the legacy of our Uncle Mike Case by taking over Case’s Music," Jay tells SooToday.com

"Our vision is one of creating and promoting a Case’s Music community: expanding artistic opportunities for the youth of Sault Ste. Marie, providing avenues for collaboration with other musicians/artists, focusing on music education through applied musical theory and live performance, availability of products from local manufacturers and artists, encouragement of creativity and musical and artistic innovation, providing workshops and tutorials for live sound technicians, studio engineers and songwriters by local and out-of-town professionals in the industry."

New teachers to be added to the existing staff include Sheldon Jaaskelainen (violin), Marshall Jaaskelainen (mandolin), Trevor Simpson (banjo), Josh Norling (saxophone), George Ravlich (bass guitar) and Cliff Alloy (drums/percussion).
