The ocean-going bulk carrier that ran aground early Friday morning in the Upper St. Marys River near Point Louise freed herself yesterday afternoon.

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson told SooToday.com this morning that the 200-metre Iryda is currently anchored in Lake Nicolet where she is undergoing inspection.

The downbound Cyprus-registered vessel was carrying wheat when she struck bottom off Brush Point on the U.S. side of the river.
