Snowmobile fatality in the Michigan Soo

SAULT STE. MARIE
(MICHIGAN) POLICE
DEPARTMENT

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department responded to a fatal snowmobile accident which took place on South Street in the city at approximately 1:32 a.m. Saturday morning.

Officers and Sault Fire Ambulance were dispatched to the accident scene at 1:32 a.m.

Officers found that a snowmobile occupied by two riders had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

The two riders of the snowmobile were treated at the scene with a 20-year-old Sault Ste. Marie resident identified as Kimberly Rogers being deceased.

The second individual was a 24-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie who was transported by ambulance to War Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

City Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident and whether alcohol could have been a factor.

City Police were assisted at the scene by the Chippewa County Sheriff Department and U.S. Border Patrol.
