The Supreme Court of Canada ruled today in favour of Wal-Mart Canada Corp., stating the company was within its rights when it closed a store in Jonquiere, Quebec on April 29, 2005 that had been unionized just seven months prior.Employees at the Jonquiere location were represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 503, however, a collective agreement was never successfully negotiated.
The store closure resulted in the dismissal of 190 employees.
