Okay, others in Sault Ste. Marie have tried this Aviva Community Fund thing, but their ideas so far haven't garnered nearly enough support to make it to the semifinals.Enter Farmer Bob.
With just five days left in the initial voting, Robert Cuerrier is seeking funding for a wild scheme to establish the Belly Button of the Whole World at his Mockingbird Hill Farm on Landslide Road.
Mother Earth's navel, as envisioned by Farmer Bob, would be a two-acre wildflower meadow with a contemplative labyrinth cut through it.
People would come from everywhere to trance through The Amazing Navel.
"The labyrinth design that we will use has been found in ancient cultures worldwide," Bob gushes. "The geometry itself is calming and the design has been used in both conventional and traditional healings."
Many of the wildflowers to be used are medicinal plants used by native healers.
"Just walking through them and brushing against them is said to increase wellness," Bob says.
Farmer Bob envisons "clusters of seating within the labyrinth so folks could rest, meditate, and heal."
There would be a really cool gazebo made out of cedar logs and Lake Superior shore stones and a fire pit inside it "to send prayers wafting skyward on the smoke."
The inevitable result, of course, will be global peace and cosmic wellness for all!
Okay, Sault Ste. Marie, you didn't get behind Marty Wyatt's vision for a youth centre at the Y.
You weren't much interested in Debbie Fecteau's proposal for improvements at the Sault Ste. Marie Horse and Pony Club.
You seem to be totally ignoring Sheena Smith's idea to introduce the Brain GymŪ program to local schools.
How about Bob's Big Belly?
Can you get into that?
