Trafficking charge laid after Cambrian Mall bust

Male arrested for trafficking and proceeds of crime-related charges

Thirty-eight-year-old George Wilson of 151 Wilcox Avenue was arrested on the 6th of November at 7:35 p.m. on McNabb Street and charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

It is alleged that on the 6th of November at approximately 4:39 p.m., members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team, the RCMP, the OPP Pocket Team and Patrol, during a drug investigation, conducted a vehicle stop in the Cambrian Mall parking lot near the corner of Great Northern Road and McNabb Street and at the time, the operator of the pickup truck, the accused George Wilson, was found to be in possession of large quantity of Oxycodone tablets and a large quantity of cash believed to be acquired through the proceeds of crime.

The accused was subsequently arrested and is to appear in court on the 7th of December.
