Remembrance Day ceremony details announced

91st National Remembrance Day ceremony - November 11, 2009

Commemorating the 91st anniversary of the armistice
signed on November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m.


The Legionnaires, along with all veterans associations, the American Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, local military units, fire and police departments, cadet corps and service clubs will form up at the Essar Centre at 9:45 and move off in formation to the courthouse cenotaph for a special “In Remembrance” wreath-laying ceremony and a fly-past by the Sault College aviation course.

The parade under the command of Comrade Ernie Bremner will return to the Essar Centre for the special Remembrance Day service conducted under the auspices of Branch 25 of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The service will include music by the Royal Canadian Legion Band, the Sir James Dunn C&VS school orchestra with vocalist Comrade Doug McChesney, Parade Marshall Ernie Bremner, Master of Ceremonies Comrade Rob Gardner and guest speaker Comrade Ron Goebel, Ontario provincial vice-chairman, Royal Canadian Legion.

The service will begin when the parade returns from the cenotaph just before 11 a.m.

The public are asked to be seated by 10:45 a.m.
