Wayne Hewitt accused of impaired driving

Thirty-nine-year-old Wayne Hewitt of 332 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 31st of October at 10:20 p.m. on Second Line West and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide a breath sample.

It is alleged that around 10:16 p.m., City Police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver operating a Chev Cavalier erratically on Great Northern Road.

Officers located the vehicle travelling westbound on Second Line West and at the time was it travelling at a high rate of speed and swerving in and out of the lanes.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle near Peoples Road and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was found in possession of an open bottle of beer.

He is to appear in court on the 7th of December.
