NEWS RELEASE

LAKE SUPERIOR
STATE UNIVERSITY

***************************
Lake Superior State University student Steven Solack (front) gives visiting St. Clair County Community College (SC4) robotics/automation professor Don Reuba a quick facilities tour of LSSU's Prototype Development Center.

Reuba, who formerly taught Solack at SC4, was part of a delegation that visited LSSU on October 15 to explore academic exchanges in engineering, technology, and the life sciences.

Solack, a senior in manufacturing engineering technology from Marine City, Michigan, transferred from SC4 two years ago.

Professor Reuba graduated from LSSU in 1988 (after transferring from SC4) with a baccalaureate in automated systems engineering technology.

LSSU's PDC has fostered 62 projects in its first two years, and is currently working 10 active projects.

Along with two staff engineers, the center employs 12 LSSU students from the areas of computer science and mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, and computer engineering.

It joined a regional "SmartZone" created last year by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
