A 16-year-old boy and his 66-year-old grandfather reportedly drowned yesterday in Lake Michigan in Moran Township.

Large waves swept the boy under as he stood in Lake Michigan.

As he attempted to save the boy, his grandfather was also overtaken by strong currents.

The two Gaylord, Michigan residents were retrieved from the water and pronounced dead after being transported to Straits Area Hospital.
