The first group of Ontario Fire personnel sent to B.C. are nearing the end of their deployment and are getting ready to return to Ontario.
Within Ontario, there have been no new fires reported in the East Fire Region within the last 24 hours.
There are currently no active fires in the region.
The fire hazard for the East Fire Region is forecasted to be low with, scattered pockets of moderate hazard around Wawa, Sault Ste. Marie, and Parry Sound.
Even though the fire hazard is currently low to moderate remember to check your site before you light.
Take a walk around the area; dry, crunchy vegetation can be an indication of a localized dry pocket.
Awareness of your surroundings is important when it comes to fire safety.
