Forest fire situation update - East Fire Region

Two new fires were confirmed in the East Fire Region within the last 24 hours.

Hearst 9 is 0.5 hectares and not under control.

Wawa 14 is 0.1 hectares and not yet under control.

No problems are anticipated with either of the new fires.

Currently there are 11 active fires in the region.

For more information please click here to view the active fires map.

The forest fire hazard across the East Fire Region is low to high but any moderate to high pockets will be eliminated as the rain continues to move eastward across the region.

Summer evenings are a great time to enjoy family and friends, and share stories around the campfire.

It is also a great opportunity to teach our future generations about fire safety.

If children are present, ensure they are not running or playing near the fire.

Keep your fire small, have a shovel and bucket of water on hand, and never leave the fire unattended.

Leading by example is a great way to teach fire safety.
