A Grade 5 student from Saginaw died Tuesday night during a school field trip to the Straits of Mackinac, Michigan news outlets are reporting.

Authorities say 10-year-old Jaylyn Ferguson was discovered at the bottom of the Holiday Inn Express's pool.

Even the immediate administration of CPR came too late.

The child, who attended Zilwaukee International Studies School, was later pronounced dead at a St. Ignace hospital.
