The mill occupies the earliest industrially developed site in Northern Ontario and has been operating as a paper mill since 1911.

In June 2007, the mill nearly collapsed financially but was purchased by a group of local investors shortly before the machines were due to be dismantled and sold to pay creditors.

It makes paper primarily purchased by magazine publishers and large retail companies for high-quality advertising inserts, flyers and catalogues.

Paper machine Number 5, still operating, is the largest capacity and newest machine in the mill.
