Glass Shop closes doors. Rachel feels shattered

By Carol Martin
Tuesday, April 21, 2009

After 28 years in business, the Glass Shop at 677 MacDonald Avenue closed suddenly yesterday.

A small sign in the window (shown) reads:

April 20, 2009

Effective immediately the Glass Shop is closed.

Existing customers will be contacted by mail to advise on the status of their outstanding orders.

We thank you for your support over the last 28 years.

At least one faithful reader was very surprised and dismayed by the closure.

"As a customer, I was waiting for about six weeks for a simple front panel to be replaced on my front entranceway," writes Rachel Tyrrel.

"I couldn't understand why it was taking them so long to fix it. Week after week, I was told there was a delay and it would be replaced shortly.

"I was especially upset because [a company representative] had agreed that it was very dangerous and needed to be fixed ASAP. I had paid a $50 deposit as soon as I accepted their estimate."

"The only notice that The Glass Shop gave was a very small sign on their door. No calls, no message changed on their answering machine. I certainly hope I will get my deposit back very soon."
