************************ There were a few tears and many promises to come back as 16 international relations students from Kyoto Sangyo University (KSU) boarded the plane to go home to Japan.

The students were at Algoma University for three weeks to take part in a whirlwind intensive English experience.

Algoma University and KSU have an agreement whereby students can participate in exchanges and earn credits.

Algoma currently has one student studying at KSU and will have two more travelling to Japan to study in the fall.

During their time at Algoma, the students did a variety of interviews with people in the university as well as at social service and community development organizations in Sault Ste. Marie.

The students also volunteered at four local schools where they shared their language, culture and traditions with both elementary and secondary students.

For fun, the students went on a sleigh ride, toured the Bushplane Museum and had a night out at The Canadian, a local bar.

They also went to a 'J-night' party hosted by Algoma University's Japanese students.

"I think I was very lucky to have such a precious opportunity which I had never experienced," said Kota Kuranaka in his report about his experiences.

Algoma University wishes the students much luck and hopes their time in Canada enriches their future studies.
