Saultbies and snow (24 photos)

For some Saultites, stay-on-the-ground snow in early November is a happy surprise. These are mostly kids under 12, who like to sled, ski or toboggan and those with a highly developed sense of joie de vivre appreciate the early flurries.

For some Saultites, stay-on-the-ground snow in early November is a happy surprise.

These are mostly kids under 12, who like to sled, ski or toboggan and those with a highly developed sense of joie de vivre appreciate the early flurries.

Then there are the rest of us.

People who couldn't find their winter boots yesterday.

People who are waiting for the snow to melt rather than shovel their driveways and walkways.

People like Rob Cameron (shown) who said he figures he'll be wondering why he bothered to get up early and come down to shovel the parking lot behind Mac's China for his wife and in-laws.

"It'll probably all melt this afternoon," Cameron said as he evicted the very last pile of slushy snow from the lot.

But Cameron also likes helping out and really likes his nifty new ergonomic snow shovel.

Based on an earlier story in SooToday.com, there probably won't be many of those shovels left to buy in the Sault by Christmas time.
