Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has rejected a proposal from Republican standard bearer John McCain to postpone Friday's scheduled debate so that both men could focus on the financial crisis confronting the United States.
Obama emphasized that it is "more important than ever" for the candidates to present their views through the debate.
