Drug bust on Hwy 17

Drugs located in motor vehicle

HIGHWAY 17, PLUMMER ADDITIONAL TWP - Yesterday at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Drug Enforcement Unit and the East Algoma Thessalon OPP assisted the Sault Ste. Marie RCMP Drug Enforcement Unit with stopping a motor vehicle on Highway 17 east of Bruce Mines, Ontario.

Cannabis resin, Oxycodone pills and ecstasy pills were located in the motor vehicle.

The estimated value of the drugs is $1,825.

Yvan Yvon Blanchard (46) of Aweres Township and Debbie Peplow (47) of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act with:

- Possession Schedule II Cannabis resin – over one gram.

- Possession for the purpose Schedule III.

- Possession Schedule I.

Blanchard and Peplow were arrested and released on a promise to appear in Thessalon court on September 29.
