SooToday.com has received the following letter from the family of Marc Caputo, who died seven months ago in a motor vehicle accident west of North Bay.

************************* On this day, June 25, 2008, which would have been the 21st birthday of our precious son and brother, Marc Caputo, we the family, wish to commemorate the occasion by expressing our heartfelt thanks and gratitude during the tragic loss of Marc so suddenly on November 24, 2007.

To describe in words the support and outpouring we have received is indeed beyond our capability to simply put down on paper.

The flowers, food, cards and donations to Marc’s scholarship fund were staggering and we would like to say thank you.

To our families for your support when you were so intensely filled with grief yourselves we say thank you, we don’t know where you found the strength to help us through those first few weeks.

To our extended families that are known to most as friends, especially Cindy and John, Ann, Thomas and Shauna and Jasmine, words cannot express how lucky we are to have you in our lives.

Despite this tragedy we still manage to feel blessed by your constant presence and your belief in our inner strength even when we think we have none left.

To all those who travelled from out of town, especially the students that drove all night in a school bus from North Bay, thank you.

To the staff and students at Nipissing University, especially Scott, Jeff, John and Dani, please know that Marc loved being a part of the Nipissing family and that we are thankful he was so happy for the two and half years he spent at Nip.

To St. Basil Secondary School, the teachers, students, athletic coaches and staff, your support, understanding and love for our family has been immeasurable.

Marc will forever be a Saint and was always so proud to be part of the St. Basil family.

To Father George and Father Amadio, thank you so much for your compassion, understanding and support.

Thank you to the engineering department of the City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma Kinniwabi Travel Association and our many colleagues for your compassion and understanding as we continue to work through the scope of our loss.

The understanding shown in our places of work has certainly lifted a burden from our minds.

To the Algoma’s Water Tower Inn, especially Donna Hilsinger, words cannot express the debt of gratitude we feel for your help and hospitality at your hotel.

To the individuals Marc admired most in his life, Jimmy Pedatella, Danny Viotto, Frank Guzzo, Mauve Coccimiglio, Frank Medaglia and Jeorg Kreps, each of you held a special place in Marc’s heart.

Your continued belief in him throughout his life gave him insight into the path he chose to follow, teaching.

He wanted to be what you were to him, mentors.

To his friends, especially Eric, Michael and Nick, you will always remain part of our family; carry Marc in your hearts as he always carried you.

He will forever be with you at every Bitonti Street hockey game and every poker game played at Nac’s.

Frank and Paul, there are no words to express how we feel and what an important part of our family you are.

To our dear Constable Kara Huffman from the Blind River OPP, you helped us live through the worst night of our lives and will always remain in our hearts.

Marco will forever be part of our lives; he will continue to enrich us with our countless memories of his huge heart and dedication to his friends and his family.

Marc never did anything without putting forth his utmost effort, his work ethic in everything he did continues to give us the strength to go on each day.

His loud voice, his large smile and the way he made us laugh each and every day of his life is indeed his legacy.

We miss you more and more with each passing day, and we will try to live our lives with honour and dignity, as you lived yours.

We will make you proud.

Marco, you knew immeasurable love, from family, friends and your beloved Melissa.

Please know you are with us each and every day; our lives are so much richer because of you.

We will always love you and we miss you every second of every day.

Ron, Carol, Matthew and Michael Caputo.

PLEASE, just say you are sorry. PLEASE, just say you remember him, if you do. PLEASE, just let us talk about him. PLEASE, just let us cry.
