Crimson Ridge gets in the loop

The Voyageur Trail Association opened a new 3.5-kilometre section of trail this week at Crimson Ridge Golf Course.

The new loop, officially opened on Monday night, takes about two hours to travel.

The route winds around Crimson Ridge's existing golf holes and greens, but is designed to accomodate future expansions, the trail association says.

The new loop begins at the far end of the Crimson Ridge parking lot (if in doubt, ask at the club house) and includes a lookout over the East Davignon Creek waterfalls.

It also passes an active beaver pond where animals can sometimes be seen in the pond.

At one point (near the bridge over East Davignon Creek), the loop joins the main Voyageur Hiking Trail.

Following this trail to the west will take you 27 kilometres to the Gros Cap area.

To the east, the main trail goes 11 kilometres to the Glenview Cottages on Great Northern Road.

On Monday night, the Saulteaux Voyageur Trail Association premiered a new, 18-minute instructional video about the trail system.
