Can Bishop Plouffe outdraw Hilary Duff?

There were 5,000 souls, most of them adolescents and pre-adolescents, on hand last September when Hilary Duff played the Steelback Centre.

And that's how many students are expected to cram into the downtown arena on Friday, May 9 as the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board holds its first-ever system-wide mass with Bishop Jean-Louis Plouffe.

Board trustees were told tonight that a 31-member committee is working on the big event.

Ninety-two buses will be used to bring in students and staff from across the board's coverage area.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie will be asked to close Dennis Street to accomodate the buses.

The event, estimated to cost about $10,000, will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the school board's existence.

It will be the first time the board has ever tried to assemble all its people in one place.
