Detroit television is reporting at this hour that a child has suffered "minor" burns after a video game player caught fire this morning in his pants pocket.

Local 4 News says the incident happened around 9 a.m. at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills.

The fire burned a hole in the student's pants before a teacher managed to get it away from him.

The school was placed under lockdown to allow emergency workers to reach the child.

There was no initial indication why the game player ignited.
