***************************** Frontenacs move veterans

The Kingston Frontenacs today traded 19 year old veteran defenceman Ben Shutron and 19 year old goaltender Jason Guy in two separate deals.

Shutron was traded to the Kitchener Rangers in exchange for rookie 17 year old goaltender Mavric Parks a 5th round selection in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection along with future considerations. Originally drafted in the 5th round, 98th overall in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection, Parks has played 15 games so far this season, winning 10 games, with 2 losses and a 2.88 GAA.

“Parks is a solid young goaltending prospect who gives us depth at the position now and into the future,” said Larry Mavety Director of Hockey Operations. “He had a solid year in Pembroke last season as a 16 year old and has continued to do so at the OHL level,” he added. “In the NHL preliminary draft list for 2008, he is ranked 4th amongst OHL goaltenders.”

In another transaction, Jason Guy was moved to the London Knights in exchange for a draft selection in the 2008 OHL Priority selection.

“Essentially the two deals work out to be Ben Shutron for John Murray and Mavric Parks and then Jason Guy for Corbin Crawford,” said Larry Mavety. “We continue to rebuild our team towards the future and the playoffs. We believe we have added another piece to that puzzle in acquiring Parks.”

Parks will join the club tomorrow and wear sweater #34.
