Morpeth, Ontario-born country star Michelle Wright will play the Steelback Centre during the 2008 Winter Carnival Bon Soo, organizers have announced tonight.

Wright will be here for a concert on February 2 sponsored by Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., the festival's new title sponsor.

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale early next week at the Steelback Centre Box Office and will cost $35.

Bon Soo President Brett Lund was excited to announce this and other new additions to the winter carnival which will celebrate it's 45th anniversary in 2008.

Following the Opening Ceremonies and Fireworks Display on Friday, February 1, a birthday celebration like no other will take place at the Steelback Centre for the big guy in red.

No, not Santa Claus.

Mr. Bon Soo turns 45 and anyone with a Bon Soo button is welcome to attend.

From February 2 to 4 the World's Largest Snow Globe will be on display in Bellevue Park.

Other fun family activities include hay wagon rides, sleigh rides, a teen dance, the Winter Playground, dog sled rides, a snowboard park, skate with the Greyhounds and the infamous polar bear swim.

Anyone interested in organizing a Snowmadness team is encouraged to contact the Bon Soo office at (705)759-3000.

For the first time ever, the first place Snowmadness team will be awarded $1000.
