Richard Nolan: 1945-2007

SooToday.com has received the following notice from the Arthur Funeral Home about the death of Richard Nolan, former Garden River fire chief and a founder of the Ontario Native Firefighter Society:

************************* NOLAN, Richard - Surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at the age of 62.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 42 years Lorraine (Gram), he was her rock and chum.

Predeceased by his parents Stan and Rose and his mother and father-in-law Ida and Norman Jones.

Dear father of Steve (Barb), Charlene, Rich (Donna), Lorinda (Dwayne) and Sheri (Gary).

Loving Papa of Ryan, Jonathon, Steven, Mike, Brad, Janine, Jennifer, Rich, Connor, Natasha, Michelle, Lorretta Lynn, Lucus, Robert and Sam and Papa to many more.

Brother of Rita (Joe), Tom (Barb), Arlene (Charlie), Barb, Terry (Marie), Joe, Ted (Sandra), Steve (Colleen) and Janice (Shawn).

Brother of the late Rod (Eileen) the late Katie (Albert).

Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Brother-in-law of Carl, Glen (Alice), Ed (Stella), Martin (Beatrice), Marcella (Chuck) and the late Wilbert.

Richard will be sadly missed by many friends.

Richard's service to the community as fire chief was greatly respected by all and his generosity knew no boundaries.

Richard was instrumental in the formation of the Ontario Native Firefighter Society.

Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, September 28, 2007 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service in the chapel at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Garden River Fire Department or the SAH Renal Dialysis Unit would be greatly appreciated by the family.
