St. Joseph Island's Larry Borek, reputed to have spent part of the sixties in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district listening to some hippie band named Jefferson Airplane rehearsing in some building across the street from his crash pad, has been nominated for a 2006 Northern Ontario Music and Film Award.

In addition to the Red Gecko Studios mastermind, SooToday.com also spotted Stephen Alexander and his little loplop Jennifer Bellerose on the same list.
