Sault College students win Landmark Award
When the Sault College Student Administrative Council (SAC) arrived at Blue Mountain recently for the College Student Alliance AGM and Changeover Assembly, they had no idea they would be returning with such accolades.
At the annual awards ceremony, the CSA honours its members with several awards.
This year, SAC was awarded the College Student Alliance Landmark Award, an award that recognizes a member council that has given their time and talents in such a way as to contribute significantly to the alliance and their initiatives of the last year.
"This is CSA's highest honour," explains Rick Wark, director of student services. "We are proud of our student government. I am certain the choice to select our student government for this achievement was obvious."
Returning SAC president, Graham Vooren, was also elected as the vice-president of the College Student Alliance during the week's meeting.
"I'm looking forward to bringing our perspective of student government to a provincial level. Bringing a Northern Ontario voice to the CSA will be beneficial to the students at Sault College and CSA," says Vooren.
The CSA is an advocacy and service organisation, which currently represents 15 colleges and 22 student governments - with over 100,000 full-time student members.
The Landmark Award is presented to the council who, throughout their affiliation with CSA, have given continued and outstanding support to the organization, have exemplified the standards of professional integrity and conduct, have achieved stature in their professional and student life pursuits, hold the esteem of colleagues and peers, and have worked to further advocacy initiatives not only in their college, but within Ontario.
