NHL great Ron Francis was presented with the Key to the City tonight by Mayor John Rowswell as 375 Saultites shelled out $50 each to celebrate Ron Francis Day at the Marconi Club.

Francis retired with 1,798 career points and 1,249 total assists, second only to Wayne Gretzky.

He won two Stanley Cup championships with Pittsburgh Penguins, in 1991 and 1992.

He notched 22 consecutive 50-point seasons, matching Gordie Howe for the longest seasons with 50 or more points.

Proceeds from tonight's dinner and reception will go to the Pee Wee Hockey League to help offset registration and equipment costs for aspiring young players.

Next Wednesday, March 1, is Francis's 43rd birthday.
