Charles Foti, Lousiana's attorney general, said tonight that the owners of flooded St. Rita's Nursing Home are facing 34 charges of negligent homicide.

The Associated Press is reporting that owner/administrator Mable Mangano and co-owner Salvador Mangano have been jailed.

They "were asked if they wanted to move [their clients]. They did not. They were warned repeatedly that this storm was coming. In effect, their inaction resulted in the deaths of these patients," Foti said.

34 St. Rita's patients died in floods caused by Hurricane Katrina.
