Look who's getting a $400,000 window and roof upgrade

Maintaining Facilities to Better Serve Sault and Area Children, Youth and Families

Ontario is helping community agencies across the province provide better services for children, youth and families with a $608,205 investment in repairs, renovations and upgrades for Sault Ste. Marie facilities, David Orazietti MPP announced today.

“This investment will help agencies in our community maintain their facilities in good working order,” said Orazietti. “Helping our community agencies pay for repairs and important renovations means they can focus more on people and less on finding the funds they need to keep their buildings safe and secure. Every investment in community agencies is an investment in children, youth and families.”

Under the Partner Facility Renewal program, the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) is investing $608,205 in 10 projects at various locations for the following community agencies:

• Children’s Aid Society of Algoma is receiving $412,559 for windows and roof repairs
• Northern Youth Services is receiving $175,646 for new windows and flooring, plumbing and HVAC replacement
• Algoma Family Services is receiving $20,000 for waterproofing repairs

“The Children's Aid Society of Algoma is very pleased to have received this partner facility funding to assist us in upgrading our buildings and assist with our overall operational costs,” said Kim Streich-Poser, Executive Director, Children’s Aid Society of Algoma. “These funds help us ensure that our core funding from the MCYS can be used to provide services and supports to families, children and youth in our community.”

Supporting community agencies that help those most in need is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up.

The four-part plan includes investing in people’s talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in the province’s history, creating a dynamic, supportive environment where business thrives and building a secure retirement savings plan.
