Student employees and the director of Lake Superior State University's Shouldice Library pose with 20 fully-equipped book bags earmarked for area school kids.

The summer workers stocked the packs with school supplies such as notebooks, erasers, pens, protractors, mini-staplers, and zip drives that will be distributed through Sault schools' Students in Transition Program.

They funded the effort with fundraisers like pop-can drives, and through a grant from LSSU'S Campus Connections program, specifically a Michigan Workforce Development Agency King-Chavez-Parks (KCP) 4-S grant.

From left (listed with hometown and major) are:

Dorianne Shaffer (Brimley, Michigan; political science/pre-law), Matt Thomas (Coloma, Michigan; manufacturing engineering technology), and Elizabeth Dotski (Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; math/computer science).

Behind is library director Marc Boucher.

Follow the Shouldice library on Facebook to keep up on everything from new acquisitions, to what's on display in the art gallery.
