Local officer charged in Great Northern Road collision

A Sault Ste. Marie police officer has been charged with red light proceed before green contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario as a result of the investigation of a collision that occurred on July 9, 2015 at 11:52 a.m. The Sault Ste.

A Sault Ste. Marie police officer has been charged with red light proceed before green contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario as a result of the investigation of a collision that occurred on July 9, 2015 at 11:52 a.m.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service cruiser was involved in a collision with a Nissan sedan on Great Northern Road at Wawanosh Avenue.

At the time of the collision, the police cruiser was responding to an emergency call.

The cruiser was southbound on Great Northern Road while the Nissan sedan was eastbound on Wawanosh Avenue, said police.

The seven-year member of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was taken to Sault Area Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and subsequently released.
