Name released in fatal highway collision

WEST PARRY SOUND – On July 8, 2015 at 11:53 a.m. members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three vehicle collision on Highway 69 (south of Harris Lake Road) in the Township of the Archipelago.

Investigation revealed that a northbound Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) drifted across the centre line and collided with a southbound motorhome.

Then a southbound truck lost control on the debris and struck the guard rails.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, Jim NORTON, 46 years of age from Savant Township was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 23-year-old male passenger of the northbound vehicle and the 41-year-old male driver of the southbound truck were transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 69 has been re-opened and the cause of the collision is still under police investigation.
