Look who just got a major award

ROTARY CLUB OF SAULT STE. MARIE

The award is given to the qualifying candidate who is an exemplary volunteer or contributor, demonstrates quiet strength and support behind outstanding achievement, and who demonstrates quality and integrity of performance.  

Carol Lloyd, CEO of Easter Seals Ontario, joined the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie for their annual President’s Night on June 30 to present the award.

“Your efforts and unwavering support have not gone unnoticed. We greatly appreciate the tremendous effort by this extraordinary group of Rotary volunteers, who each year take on the task of organizing the Snowarama, Change for Change, and the annual Telethon, and do it with such tremendous success,” shared Lloyd, as she prepared to present the award, “To us at Easter Seals, the Rotary Club of Sault Ste Marie has proven time and time again that they are a devoted and committed supporter of Easter Seals Ontario.”

This is the first time that the award is ever being presented to a group, and not an individual.

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie originally began their association with what would later be known as Easter Seals Ontario, in 1922 when it was called the Ontario Society of Crippled Children.

This award has been earned by every Rotarian who has been a member of the club at any time during its 93 year relationship with Easter Seals Ontario. 

Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” which has been demonstrated by the many Rotarians and countless supporters of Rotary who have embodied this ideal in their generosity towards children with physical disabilities.

Many youth in our community with physical disabilities have had the chance to experience independence, freedom, and a sense of accomplishment through the provision of a wheelchair, mobility equipment, communication device, or accessible summer camp through Easter Seals. 

While the club is receiving this recognition, members would like to acknowledge the support of everyone who has ever purchased a Take Your Pick Car Draw ticket, donated their change jar to Change for Change, ridden in Snowarama  or supported a rider, volunteered for ROTARYFEST, participated in the Easter Seals Telethon as a panellist and/or sponsor;  everyone who has given to Rotary of their time, resources, or skills in order to help these children.
