Today as I sat and listened to the wonderful music at the Canada Day celebration I watched with admiration the many people enthusiastically waving their Canadian flags.

We celebrate this great country’s 148th birthday and as we do this it is important to note this year is the 50th anniversary of our beautiful flag.

It was Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson of the riding of Algoma East who brought us this great symbol and for that I thank him as well.

Again I thank each and every one of you for being such proud Canadians.
