I-75 Business Spur reconstruction project in Sault Ste. Marie starts July 6

HIGHWAY: I-75 Business Spur (BS)

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE: Monday, July 6, 2015             

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be reconstructing a quarter mile of pavement and underground utilities on the I-75 BS from Easterday Avenue to the power canal and adding streetscape improvements.

Also part of this $1.9 million investment: decorative concrete sidewalk pavers installation, decorative street lights, tree plantings, grates, and trash receptacles designed to match the look of an adjacent project to the north completed nearly 20 years ago.

The project will include upgrading sidewalk ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: The project will be constructed part-width during the day in order to maintain access to businesses during business hours. Commercial truck traffic will be routed around the project during construction.

There may be occasional detours for night work. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

I-75 paving work near Kinross starts July 6

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE: Monday, July 6, 2015

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Friday, Oct. 2, 2015

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be resurfacing nearly 10 miles of I-75 from the Chippewa/Mackinac county line to north of M-80.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: One lane of traffic will be open in each direction for the duration of the project.
