As of this past Sunday, May has only recorded about half of the usual rainfall for this month.

So far only 32mm of the typical 66mm has fallen - but that is about to change this coming week.

By the end of this week we should make up that shortfall and may even go beyond this coming weekend.

Rain should fall all day Monday.

There is a risk of some thunder in the afternoon as 20-30mm falls through the day.

Temperatures will remain in the mid-teens with gusty east winds all day.

Rain tapers off to scattered showers on Tuesday.

There remains a slight risk of thunder but temperatures will climb back up towards 20C.

The showery weather continues for Wednesday with daytime highs in the upper teens.

Thursday will likely see the most sunshine this week.

Temperatures should shoot back up into the mid-twenties with a mix of sun and cloud.

Rain returns Friday into Saturday before colder air arrives Sunday.
