SUSTAIN ALGOMA EXPO

The Kensington Conservancy, Johnson Farmers’ Market (Desbarats), Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN), Central Algoma Freshwater Coalition, Clean North and the St. Mary’s River Remedial Action Plan have announced the upcoming “Sustain Algoma Expo” planned for Saturday, July 25, formerly called the Green Expo.

With a change in direction, the Sustain Algoma Expo will feature a diverse variety of exhibitors, kid’s activities, and local food with a focus on sustainable Algoma communities.

Tanna Elliott from Kensington Conservancy stated “As we build on the great success of previous years, we have evolved to a point where it’s about sustaining a healthy community for future generations.”  

The previous Green Expo ran consecutively for 6 years at the Desbarats Arena in Johnson Township every July, but this year the organizing committee decided a new direction was needed for the annual event.

According to co-organizer David Thompson (RAIN), “a new focus was needed that wasn’t strictly focused on the environment. We wanted an expo that would showcase unique initiatives and products that sustain communities from different sectors, including agriculture, forestry, water management, and social enterprise.”

The fun family event will feature products and services from food producers, artisans, organizations and local businesses.

The Sustain Algoma Expo will take place on Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Desbarats, Ontario.
