NEWS RELEASE

SAULT ROTARACT

*************************
Sault Rotaract – a partner of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie – is spearheading a new event: the “Community Leaders Speakers Series”, sponsored by Lifeforia, will focus on presenting dynamic speakers that empower and inspire attendees while raising money for worthy causes that help to empower others.

The event will be held on the evening of Thursday, May 7 at Northern Grand Gardens.

Speakers will include Susan Hunter (Director of External Relations - Sault College), Donna Hilsinger (General Manager - Algoma’s Water Tower Inn), Dawna Kinnunen (Chief Inspiration Officer - Positively Charged) and Rotaract Vice President Connie Carello (Owner - CC Communications).

Tickets can be purchased for $20 at the local Red Cross Office, and will include dinner (salad, roast chicken and potatoes, coffee and tea).

In honour of the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday, all proceeds from the event will be split between two causes that focus on women:

Red Cross: Maternal, Newborn and Child Health

Every day, 18,000 children and 800 mothers die – mostly due to inequities that could be prevented through low cost interventions and improved access to health care.

The Red Cross is working in 24 countries across the Americas, Africa and Asia to reduce the rates of pneumonia and malaria in children, and to help women avoid life-threatening complications during pregnancy and childbirth.

Kiva: Microloans for Women in 3rd World Countries

Kiva provides safe, affordable access to capital to those in need, and helps people create better lives for themselves and their families.

Kiva works with microfinance institutions to provide loans to people without access to traditional banking systems.

A loan of as little as $25 can help a woman create opportunity for herself and others.

Capacity for this exciting event is limited, so don’t miss out! Get your tickets today.
