NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE

*************************
Sutherland Global Services is looking to hire 250 employees for its Sault Ste. Marie operation over the next four months and Mayor Christian Provenzano is encouraging job seekers to explore what the company has to offer.

Mayor Provenzano met with Sutherland’s Head of Canadian Operations, Lori Atkinson, and Sutherland’s Recruiting Manager for Canada, Giulio Desando, earlier this week.

Says Provenzano, “I met with Ms. Atkinson and Mr. Desando and I came away impressed by the company’s future plans and its dedication to Sault Ste. Marie. Over the past decade, many contact centres have left Ontario for other jurisdictions but Sutherland has remained committed to our community and to providing employees here with great career opportunities.”

“Our Sault Ste. Marie operation and its workforce are recognized by our clients as providing excellent quality of service,” says Atkinson. “There is a strong demand for the calibre of employees we have in Sault Ste. Marie, which is why we are looking to increase our presence here.”

Sutherland’s employee retention rates in Sault Ste. Marie are well above industry norms.

The average tenure of a local employee is close to 4.5 years, while average length of service for managers is almost nine years.

“These figures speak well of our company and our Sault Ste. Marie location,” says Desando. “We feel we are a great place for workers to start or build a career. We offer an employee recognition program and also a leadership development program to assist employees who are interested in moving into supervisory positions.”
